Rete 55 is an Italian television station with regional broadcasting, with legal and operational headquarters in Gornate Olona ( VA ).

Launched in 1979 as a broadcaster dedicated to the city of Varese alone , it has progressively expanded to broadcast (first in analogue technique , then in digital terrestrial ) on the territory of the whole of Lombardy ; due to the natural overrun of the signal, however, it is also admissible in the border areas of the neighboring Italian regions ( eastern Piedmont, western Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige , northern Emilia-Romagna ) and also in Switzerland (southern part of Ticino and Grisons ) .
